He has three children who still live in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Darren has worked for nearly thirty years in the Information Technology sector. His speciality area in IT was application, database and software development.

Darren has always enjoyed adventures with a twist and in 2008 having never even holidayed outside of New Zealand and aged about forty years old, he decided to embark on a backpacking journey to India. With no planning and no research – he would just see what came of it.
